Sherline Tongue Scale

I took my fully loaded trailer to a local weigh scale on the way out of town during one of my summer trips.
The truck, trailer, and trailer axle all got weighed.

Trailer minus trailer axle=tongue weight.

First I weighed truck and trailer.  The next step I moved the truck's rear axle just off the scale allowing me to drop the trailer.  Then after the trailer alone got weighed I hitched up again( without moving the truck),
pulled forward and the trailer's axle got weighed.

I found the above advice on a rv forum and it really helped get everything weighed quickly and I know I could do this on my own if necessary.

Most people, myself included, underestimate the overall weight of their fully loaded trailers. That put the next important number, my tongue weight, right at 15%.

I read a lot on rv forums and most "old timers" suggest closer to 12-13 percent as that falls between the safe range and also found it to eliminate trailer sway.

This scale really helped as I reduced my trailers tongue weight from 15% to 13%. With a recent project removing my HD base cabinets for lighter storage alternatives this little scale will show the tongue weight to be even less.

My cargo trailer has always towed straight and with no sway.   Now I just feel better that things have been moved around and  balanced better.

Battery pump for bathroom sink.

The hand pump still works great but for a quick rinse of the hands I added a battery pump too.

 Easy and it works!

I was using this all summer on my outdoor table that I decied to move it into the cargo trailer.

Seal Best applied to roof.

I picked up SealBest White Roof coating from Menard's.

After cleaning roof I applied the first coat.  I'll wait for another nice day and get the second coat on.

I'm hoping to benefit from it's reflecting quality to cool the interior when in full sun.  I'll have plenty of chances to see if this works on my next trip as my trailer won't see much shade.

SEPTEMBER UPDATE:
My recent two week trip had the camper in plenty of sun.  Happy to report significant interior cooling.  Well worth applying.

Added Ikea tray on a slider

Makes it much easier to get to items when they are on a slider.

Pics as promised

My awning guy sewed two triangles for me. One of them is always above my cargo door window allowing it to be opened, even in the rain, when it's used with a screen or with the a/c.

When used with a screen the awning folds over the cargo door and attaches to the bottom of the trailer with a bungee cord. No need for a tent pole at all.

A pass through window added to rear screen.

A pass through window will come in handly. The framing allows for extra support for the two upper beds.
